Emily fell in love with yoga in 2012 when her best friend encouraged her to join for a weekly yoga routine in Charleston, SC. While her practice started out as purely physical, she quickly found that yoga brings her peace through stress and anxiety. She incorporates her practice into her daily life for balance and clarity, and she loves teaching so that she can spread the same peace of mind to others around her.
You may occasionally notice bits of Southern charm in Emily's classes- she was born & raised in South Carolina and she recently moved to the Bay Area from Austin, TX for graduate school. She completed her 230-hour teacher training at Asheville Yoga Center in North Carolina. She really loves how, although pose names or class styles may differ regionally, yoga brings the same uplifting feeling to everyone, no matter where they are.
As a yoga instructor, Emily typically teaches Vinyasa Flow classes. She has taught in all kinds of settings, including studios, gyms, corporate offices, rooftop pools, music festivals, health conferences, and even on a goat farm. Emily believes that there is something in yoga for everyone, so she encourages yogis to personalize their practice by moving intuitively. She offers modifications throughout her flows so her students can explore which versions of poses work best for them and so they can make the class as comfortable or as challenging as they would like.
